Crime Statistics
Homicides, rapes, robberies and thefts declined in Livingston Parish during 2004, while other crimes such as assaults, burglaries and vehicle thefts increased. Sheriff Willie Graves attributes these increases to the rapid growth in the parish.
“Burglaries have gone up, but there are more houses in the parish than there were a year ago,” said Sheriff Graves. “However, I am pleased to see that the overall number of violent crimes was down last year.”
In 2007, the LPSO staff made 1,028 arrests. These arrests accounted for over 30 percent of the cases handled by the Sheriff’s Office. The table below shows the parish’s crime statistics for the past four years: |
