On October 10, 2014 just after 8:00a.m., members of the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office were called to Pine Hill Drive in Albany in reference to a stolen vehicle complaint. Deputies learned a 2010 Chevy Camaro was stolen from the victim's driveway overnight. The victim's keys were inside the vehicle.
LPSO Deputies later spotted that stolen vehicle southbound on Highway 43. The driver of the stolen
vehicle refused to stop for LPSO Deputies, then attempted to speed away from deputies. Once on North Café' Line Road, the driver jumped from the vehicle – while leaving the vehicle in motion. The driver of the stolen vehicle then fled on foot into a nearby wooded area – crossing into Tangipahoa Parish.
A deputy with LPSO was able to hop into the rolling vehicle and place it in park without causing damage to the surrounding area or oncoming traffic.
Members of the LPSO, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office and the Albany Police Department quickly established a perimeter. K-9s from LPSO and TPSO tracked the suspect, along with LPSO Air Support. Air Support spotted the suspect and led both K-9 teams and deputies to the suspect.
Kevin Rheams (DOB: 6/3/92 of 30700 North Café' Line Rd in Albany) was quickly apprehended
by our K-9 teams. He was treated at a local hospital, then booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Detention Center as a fugitive for LPSO. He was then transported to the Livingston Parish Detention Center where he'll be booked for the following:
>Aggravated Flight from an Officer
>Resisting an Officer
