Sheriff Jason Ard will offer ‘Concealed Carry' classes to those interested starting later this month. Sheriff Ard says, ‘this is a hands-on class where students will learn how to properly, safely and confidently handle a weapon.' These classes will be held at the state-of-art LPSO Training Center and Firing Range located at 28225 Woodside Drive in Walker, LA.
LPSO's ‘Concealed Carry' class is designed to provide students with the requirements necessary to apply for and obtain a Concealed Carry permit. Participants must be 21 years of age and meet Louisiana State Police Requirements.
Sheriff Ard has assigned an experienced team to lead this class in the name of public safety. The LPSO Instructors are Police Officer Standards of Training (P.O.S.T) certified firearms instructors with over 20 years of combined experience. These instructors are full-time law enforcement professionals who have met the proficiency criteria set and have successfully completed the F.B.I. Instructor Development course.
Sheriff Ard says, ‘these instructors are tasked with training and qualifying other members of the law enforcement community. They teach various firearm skills – from basic firearms to training specialized tactical units. They are more than qualified to help those interested in this particular class.'
The class will consist of both classroom and weapons firing instruction.
