Joining the ranks of Louisiana’s Law Enforcement Agencies is a high honor and will be an extremely challenging, but very rewarding, step in your career path. After being hired by your respective Agency, Candidates can then apply to attend the LPSO Basic Corrections Academy.
LPSO strives to maintain state-of-the-art training for the Louisiana law enforcement community and continuously researches the most effective training methods to ensure that we deliver the highest quality training to our students.

PLEASE READ PHYSICAL FITNESS STANDARDS (BELOW) BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION.
The officer must be able to do at least 10 push-ups, 1 minute plank and run the 1 ½ mile under 20 minutes. Once the officer applies to BCA a confirmation email, will be sent to the officer and the contact person who is listed on the application. The officer must bring the Level II Academy Health Form with them on the first day of class. Please follow all instructions in the confirmation email.
Applications
Prospective applicants need to fill out an application (link at bottom of page) and should be prepared to name agency and agency contact info. Each agency submitting applications must complete a PC 562 form (below). This form must be signed by the Agency Head or Sheriff and mailed to the Livingston Parish Sheriffs Office at 29384 Woodside Dr, Walker LA 70785 (Attn Patrick Knab). The original form must be received two weeks prior to the start date of the class.

Payments are due one week prior to the academy starting or students can bring payment on the first day of the Academy. Please make checks payable to Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office and/or mail payment to:

The Academy Health Form (PDF) available for downloading/printing below, MUST be completed by a physician. It must be turned into the academy two weeks prior to the first day of the academy or the student WILL NOT be allowed to attend the academy. No other form will be accepted.
Academy information
Students are to report to LPSO Training Center at 29384 Woodside Dr, Walker LA 70785 for the first day, class will begin at 0745 hours. The academy will run Monday through Thursday, 10-hour days, for approximately 7 weeks (258 hours). You must be Level III Certified and POST Firearms Certified in order to attend the Level II Academy. A copy of Level III certification must be provided with the application. There will be a minimum of at least 10 participants to start the academy with a maximum of 30 participants.
*The week of October 13th, classes will be Tuesday through Friday due to Columbus Day.*
